The main purpose of the Low-No Program is to support the transition of the nation’s transit fleet to the lowest polluting and most energy efficient transit vehicles. The Low-No Program provides funding to State and local governmental authorities for the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses, including acquisition, construction, and leasing of required supporting facilities.
The California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) Environmental Justice (EJ) Small Grants Program offers funding opportunities authorized by California Code of Regulations Title 27, Division 1, Chapter 3, Article 1 to assist eligible non-profit community organizations and federally-recognized Tribal governments address environmental justice issues in areas disproportionately affected by environmental pollution and hazards. The EJ Small Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.
The California Resilience Challenge is a statewide effort, led by businesses, utilities, and a diverse range of partners, to build local and regional climate resilience and to support a shared vision for a resilient California in the face of increasing climate threats. The Challenge is providing grants for diverse, replicable and innovative climate change adaptation planning projects across California. These projects will reflect California’s diverse geography and showcase leadership in climate change adaptation.
The Volkswagen (VW) Mitigation Trust (also known as the Trust or Mitigation Trust) was established as part of a settlement with Volkswagen for their role in utilizing illegal defeat devices in certain 2.0 and 3.0 liter VW vehicles that resulted in excess emissions. The Trust will provide funding to mitigate these excess emissions through the replacement or repower of older, heavy-duty vehicles, engines and equipment with zero emission and other clean technologies.

The Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program is currently accepting applications. Eligible projects will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.
For fiscal year ending 2020, approximately $6 million in funding is available for award to public agencies through the Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program, for transportation services (including first- and last-mile connection) and bicycle infrastructure projects that will reduce vehicle trips.
CAL FIRE’s Forest Health Program funds landscape-scale land management projects intended to restore and maintain healthy forests and conserve working forests. Projects funded under the Forest Health Program contribute to the goals of the Forest Carbon Plan, California’s Natural and Working Lands Implementation Plan, and California’s Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB32).
The CAL FIRE 2019/2020 Urban and Community Forestry Program is funded by the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) to further the goals of the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32), result in a net greenhouse gas (GHG) benefit, and provide environmental services and cost-effective solutions to the needs of urban communities and local agencies.
The Transformative Climate Communities Program offers Planning and Implementation Grants for integrated sets of community-led projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve quality of life. Implementation Grants fund transportation, greening, energy, water, waste, housing, and health projects. Planning Grants fund community-led development of projects and goals to improve resilience.
