Ford Foundation Grants

The Ford Foundation makes grants that support the three I's: Institutions, Ideas, and Individuals. Having recently done away with their siloed grants program, the Ford Foundation accepts grant proposals that start in seven program areas, or entry points, as they say.

The seven program areas:

ecoTech Grants

ecoTech™ Grants were created to combat the notion that students needed to choose between “the screen” or “the green” and to encourage educators and students to explore the role technology can play in designing and implementing solutions to some of our most pressing environmental challenges. We believe that technology can present innovative ways to address environmental challenges – and that when dealing with digital natives, we do ourselves a disservice by asking them to unplug.

Water Power Technologies Office 2019 Research Funding Opportunity

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is issuing, on behalf of the Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO), a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) titled “Water Power Technologies Office 2019 Research Funding Opportunity.” This FOA addresses priorities in the following Areas of Interest:

2019 DOE Regional Initiative to Accelerate Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage

The primary objective of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to award projects that identify and address onshore regional storage and transport challenges facing commercial deployment of Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS). Projects will focus on Addressing Key Technical Challenges; Facilitate Data Collection, Sharing, and Analysis; Evaluate Regional Infrastructure; and Promote Regional Technology Transfer.

2019 Advanced Vehicle Technologies Research Funding Opportunity

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is issuing, on behalf
of the Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO), a Funding Opportunity Announcement
(FOA) entitled, “Fiscal Year 2019 Advanced Vehicle Technologies Research
Funding Opportunity Announcement.”

VTO invests in early-stage research of a broad portfolio of
technologies, generating the knowledge needed for industry to further develop
and commercialize affordable, secure, and reliable transportation systems.

The California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project for Sacramento County

The Sacramento County Incentive Project promotes easy access to zero-emission vehicle infrastructure by offering $14 million in rebates for the purchase and installation of eligible Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers in Sacramento County. $7.7 million in rebates is available for Level 2 EV chargers, and $6.3 million is available for DC fast chargers.

Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative

The Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative (OREI) seeks to solve critical organic agriculture issues, priorities, or problems through the integration of research, education, and extension activities. The purpose of this program is to fund projects that will enhance the ability of producers and processors who have already adopted organic standards to grow and market high quality organic agricultural products. Priority concerns include biological, physical, and social sciences, including economics.

Maritime Energy Conservation or Efficiency Pilot/Demonstration Project RFP

The Maritime Administration, Office of Environment is issuing this request for proposals (RFP) for projects that demonstrate shipboard energy conservation or efficiency measures.

Background: Over the past several years, the Maritime Administration (MARAD) has been partnering with government agencies, industry, and academia on efforts to reduce vessel and port emissions, as well as efforts to support the use of alternative fuel and energy sources. Currently, MARAD would like to focus on exploring and supporting proposals focused on shipboard energy efficiency and conservation.
