NRCS is announcing the availability of Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials (On-Farm Trials) to stimulate the adoption and evaluation of innovative conservation approaches in partnership with agricultural producers. For 2020, applications are accepted from eligible entities for projects addressing at least one priority listed in this announcement. Up to $25 million is available for On-Farm Trials in 2020.

In November 2019, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the Plastics Innovation Challenge, a comprehensive program to accelerate innovations in energy-efficient plastics recycling technologies. This FOA will support high-impact R&D for plastics by developing new plastics that are capable of efficient recyclability and improving recycling strategies that can break existing plastics into chemical building blocks that can be used to make higher-value products.

CIG projects are expected to lead to the transfer of conservation technologies, management systems, and innovative approaches (such as market-based systems) to agricultural producers, into NRCS technical manuals and guides, or to the private sector. CIG generally funds pilot projects, field demonstrations, and on-farm conservation research.
The HWWS Grant Program has been established to help individuals with low to moderate incomes finance the costs of household water wells that they own or will own. Eligible Grant Purposes
a. Grant funds must be used to establish and maintain a revolving loan fund to provide loans to eligible individuals for household water well systems.
The Rural Utilities Service (RUS), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), announces the availability of up to $10 million in competitive grants to assist communities with extremely high energy costs. The grant funds may be used to acquire, construct, or improve energy generation, transmission, or distribution facilities serving communities where the average annual residential expenditure for home energy exceeds 275% of the national average.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture's (CDFA) Dairy Digester Research and Development Program (DDRDP), https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/oefi/ddrdp/, awards competitive grants to California dairy operations and digester developers for the implementation of dairy digesters that result in long-term methane emission reductions on California dairies and minimize or mitigate adverse environmental impacts.
Analogous to the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP)5, CORE provides a first-come, first-served voucher process for fleets ready to purchase cleaner off-road equipment to receive funding to offset the higher cost of such equipment. Pursuant to AB 134 and the FY 2017-18 Funding Plan, CORE is currently only applicable to freight equipment powered exclusively by zero-emission technology.
