The Active Transportation Program (ATP)

The Active Transportation Program (ATP) was created by Senate Bill 99 (Chapter 359, Statutes of 2013) and Assembly Bill 101 (Chapter 354, Statutes of 2013) to encourage increased use of active modes of transportation, such as biking and walking. The ATP consolidates various transportation programs - including the federal Transportation Alternatives Program, state Bicycle Transportation Account, and federal and state Safe Routes to School programs - into a single program to:
  • Increase the proportion of biking and walking trips

Public Fleet Pilot Project

Administered by CSE for the California Air Resources Board, the Increased Incentives for Public Fleets in Disadvantaged Communities (Public Fleet Pilot Project) offers up to $15,000 in rebates for the purchase of new, eligible zero-emission and plug-in hybrid light-duty vehicles. The Public Fleet Pilot Project replaces standard CVRP rebates with increased incentives for public agencies operating in California’s most vulnerable and pollution-burdened areas.

2018 Preservation Technology and Training Grants

2018 Preservation Technology and Training Grants (PTT Grants) are intended to create better tools, better materials, and better approaches to conserving buildings, landscapes, sites, and collections. The PTT Grants are administered by the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT), the National Park Service's innovation center for the preservation community. The competitive grants program will provide funding to federal agencies, states, tribes, local governments, and non-profit organizations.

Infill Infrastructure Grant Program (IIG)

Funded by Proposition (Prop 1C) 1C, the Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006, the primary goal is to promote infill housing development. By providing financial assistance, IIG supports infrastructure improvements to facilitate new infill housing development. IIG serves to aid in new construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure that supports higher-density affordable and mixed-income housing in locations designated as infill. Infill project sites must have been previously developed, or largely surrounded by development.

Assistance to High Energy Cost Communities

The Rural Utilities Service (RUS), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), announces the availability of up to $10 million in competitive grants to assist communities with extremely high energy costs. The grant funds may be used to acquire, construct, or improve energy generation, transmission, or distribution facilities serving communities where the average annual residential expenditure for home energy exceeds 275% of the national average.

Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training (EWDJT) Grants

The U.S. EPA is soliciting proposals from eligible entities, including nonprofit organizations, to deliver Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training programs that recruit, train, and place local, unemployed and under-employed residents with the skills needed to secure full-time employment in the environmental field. Please note that eligible entities who received an EWDJT grant in Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17) are not eligible to apply for funding in FY18.

CalTrans Transportation Planning Grant Program

Senate Bill 1, The Road Repair & Accountability Act of 2017 (SB 1) planning grant funds include: Transportation Planning Grants ($25 million annually) to encourage local and regional planning that further state goals, including, but not limited to, the goals and best practices cited in the regional transportation plan guidelines adopted by the California Transportation Commission. Adaptation Planning Grants ($20 million over three years) to local and regional agencies for climate change adaptation planning. It is envisioned that these planning grants will provide much needed funding to support regional sustainable communities strategies and ultimately achieve the State's greenhouse gas reductions targets of 40 and 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2030 and 2050, respectively. Transformative Climate Communities

The Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program is a California Climate Investment (CCI) program administered by the Strategic Growth Council, and implemented by the Department of Conservation and other partnering State agencies. Funds are available to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the development and implementation of neighborhood-level transformative climate community plans that include multiple, coordinated GHG emissions reduction projects that provide local economic, environmental, and health benefits to disadvantaged communities. Funding for the TCC Program is provided by Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), an account established to receive Cap-and-Trade auction proceeds. (DUE 10-30-2018)
