Marine Vessels and Equipment - Bay Area AQMD

Upgrade or replace diesel-powered marine engines with funding from the Carl Moyer Program. This program aims to cut air pollution from heavy-duty diesel engines in California. Funds are available for the following project types: Engine replacement (repower) - replace a vessel’s engine with a newer, lower-emission-certified engine; Remanufacture kit - install an engine remanufacture kit that reduces the engine’s emissions; Engine retrofit - install an ARB-verified diesel emission control strategy device.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) is accepting applications for the Carl Moyer Memorial Air Quality Standards Attainment Program (CMP) beginning July 11, 2016. Marine projects eligible for funding include main or auxiliary engine replacements, engine remanufacture kits, engine retrofits, and new vessel purchases.

Maximum Award Amount: 

Maximum reimbursement depends upon total cost of the replacement / retrofit.

Additional Eligibility Information: 
Funding is available to reduce emissions from commercial or institutional marine vessels, such as charter fishing boats, commercial fishing boats, pilot boats, work boats, and research boats. Limited funding is available for regulated commercial marine vessels, such as barges, crew and supply vessels, dredges, tour boats, ferries, tugboats, and towboats subject to the ARB Harbor Craft Regulation. Recreational vehicles are not eligible for funding.
