BayREN Multifamily Program

Energy Upgrade California’s Bay Area Multifamily Building Enhancements offers cash rebates and no-cost energy consulting for multifamily properties that undertake energy and water upgrades. The program assists in planning energy saving improvements designed to save 15% or more of a building’s energy and water usage and provides $750 per unit in rebates to help pay for the upgrade.

Affordable Multifamily Financing Program

The Affordable Multifamily Financing program targets multifamily properties where at least 50% of the units are income restricted.

Like all of the programs highlighted on GoGreen Financing, the Affordable Multifamily Financing program is designed to encourage growth in private market lending and features a credit enhancement to help financing entities mitigate risk. It is designed to leverage and complement existing state and utility efforts to encourage affordable multifamily properties to install energy efficiency retrofits.

Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Loans & Grants

USDA Rural Development is seeking applications for its Rural Energy for America Program. The program provides grants and guaranteed loans to farmers and small businesses to support the installation of renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements. Applicants may apply for grants up to 25% of the total project costs. Energy efficiency grants can range from $1,500 to $250,000 while renewable energy grants range from $2,500 to $500,000. Examples of former projects include, but are not limited to, the installation of:
  • wood pellet boilers
  • solar panels

SDG&E (Electric) - Multi-Family Residential Efficiency Program

Multi-Family Residential building owners, property managers, and tenants in San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) territory are eligible for energy efficiency rebates and incentives. The types of upgrades include attic insulation, water-saving upgrades, energy-efficient lighting, and cooling and heating duct sealing. SoCalGas - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs - Building Insulation

The Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) Home Energy Efficiency Rebate Program offers cash rebates on qualifying energy-efficiency upgrades or improvements made to single family homes, multi-family apartments, or attached residential units (maximum of four). Prescriptive rebates are available for qualifying Energy Star dishwashers, clothes washers and water heaters. These appliance rebates can be redeemed at the point of sale through participating retailers.If the equipment is bought at a non-participating retailer, mail-in rebates are available.
