BayREN Multifamily Program

Energy Upgrade California’s Bay Area Multifamily Building Enhancements offers cash rebates and no-cost energy consulting for multifamily properties that undertake energy and water upgrades. The program assists in planning energy saving improvements designed to save 15% or more of a building’s energy and water usage and provides $750 per unit in rebates to help pay for the upgrade.

The Bay Area Regional Network (BayREN) provides regional-scale energy efficiency programs and services to reduce carbon emissions and promote healthy, energy-efficient buildings and homes.

BayREN Home+ is implemented by local county governments and available to homeowners and renters in nine counties:

Affordable Multifamily Financing Program

The Affordable Multifamily Financing program targets multifamily properties where at least 50% of the units are income restricted.

Like all of the programs highlighted on GoGreen Financing, the Affordable Multifamily Financing program is designed to encourage growth in private market lending and features a credit enhancement to help financing entities mitigate risk. It is designed to leverage and complement existing state and utility efforts to encourage affordable multifamily properties to install energy efficiency retrofits.

Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Loans & Grants

USDA Rural Development is seeking applications for its Rural Energy for America Program. The program provides grants and guaranteed loans to farmers and small businesses to support the installation of renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements. Applicants may apply for grants up to 25% of the total project costs. Energy efficiency grants can range from $1,500 to $250,000 while renewable energy grants range from $2,500 to $500,000. Examples of former projects include, but are not limited to, the installation of:
  • wood pellet boilers
  • solar panels

Burbank Water & Power - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program - Windows, Doors

Burbank Water and Power (BWP) offers incentives to its residential customers for installing energy efficient equipment in eligible homes. California Enterprise Development Authority (Figtree PACE) - Statewide PACE Program

FIGTREE Energy Financing is administering a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing program in a number of California cities and counties through a partnership with the Pacific Housing & Finance Agency (PHFA) and the California Enterprise Development Authority (CEDA). PACE programs allow property owners to borrow money for energy improvement projects which are repaid through their property taxes. A number of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies can be financed through FIGTREE's PACE program.
