The Community Assistance Program - State Support Services element (CAP-SSSE) program provides funding to States to provide technical assistance to communities in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and to evaluate community performance in implementing NFIP floodplain management activities. Designation, duties, and responsibilities of State Coordinating Agencies are found in 44 CFR 60.25. These regulations identify the states commitment to the minimum floodplain management criteria and to demonstrate the capability and responsibility to implement the program. In this way, CAP-SSSE helps to; ensure that the flood loss reduction goals of the NFIP are met, build state and community floodplain management expertise and capability, and leverage state knowledge and expertise in working with their communities.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites applications for a Measurement Core for the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program. Working collaboratively with the other members of the ECHO Cohort consortium, the ECHO Cohort Measurement Core will: 1) develop and refine measures for the ECHO Cohort Protocol, including methods to implement the measures; 2) assist all ECHO Cohort Study Sites, Cores, and Centers in implementing and evaluating the ECHO Cohort Protocol which comprises standardized measures at specified study visits; and 3) lead strategic decision-making to incorporate new and revised measures to advance ECHO Cohort science while moderating participant and staff burden. This FOA runs in parallel with companion FOAs that solicit applications for Cohort Study Sites for follow-up of existing ECHO Cohort participants and for recruitment of new pregnant participants (RFA XXXX), for Cohort Study Sites only for follow-up of existing ECHO Cohort participants (RFA XXXX), for Cohort Study Sites only for recruitment of new pregnant participants (RFA XXXX), for an ECHO Coordinating Center (RFA XXXX), for an ECHO Data Analysis Center (RFA XXXX), and for an ECHO Laboratory Core (RFA XXXX).

The purpose of the MSPP is to develop a diverse pool of combined-degree students (e.g., MD/PhD, DDS/PhD, DVM/PhD) who have conducted their PhD dissertation research at research laboratories in the NIH Intramural Research Program. The recipients will receive rigorous training in the basic, translational, and clinical biomedical sciences to prepare them for leadership positions in biomedical careers. The research and training plans are expected to provide the recipients with a strong understanding of the rigorous research study design, critical thinking, experimental methods and rigor, quantitative approaches, bioethics, and data analysis. Training also includes a mentored research experience, and extensive career and professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities planned and supported by the program. This program thus provides the knowledge, professional skills, and experiences required to identify and transition into careers in the biomedical research workforce that utilize the combined degree.

The Office of Insular Affairs (OIA) is requesting proposals for Fiscal Year 2022 for its Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Activity 8 projects. The OIA BIL Activity 8 program provides grant funding to restore native vegetation and mitigate environmental hazards on mined Federal and non-Federal land in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The goal of OIA BIL Activity 8 is to restore native vegetation on landscape disturbances that are man-made rather than from natural disasters for their long-term economic and social benefit in these areas.

The Bureau of Reclamation intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), for grants/cooperative agreements for the following program: The Central Valley Project Improvement Act. The Trinity River Restoration Program (TRRP) is a multi-agency effort headquartered in Weaverville, California, with the goal to restore and sustain natural production of anadromous fish populations downstream of Lewiston Dam to pre-dam levels by restoring natural river processes. The strategy to accomplish the TRRP’s goal includes increased flow releases, sediment management and control, mechanical channel rehabilitation, watershed restoration, and an adaptive management program (USDOI, 2000). This approach resulted from years of study that culminated in the Trinity River Flow Evaluation Study (USFWS and HVT, 1999). The Trinity River Flow Evaluation Study’s recommended restoration methods, as well as other alternatives, were subsequently described and fully evaluated in an Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR) (USFWS, Reclamation, HVT, and TC, 2000). In the Record of Decision (ROD) (USDOI, 2000), the TRRP was formed to implement the Preferred Alternative as described in the Final EIS/EIR. This FOA is expected to result in the award of multiple grants or cooperative agreements specifically to help implement the watershed restoration component of the TRRP. The Implementation Plan for the Preferred Alternative of the Trinity River Final EIS/EIR (Implementation Plan) (Stalnaker and Wittler, 2000), explains the impetus for the watershed program plus describes work activities, priorities, and funding sources. Successful applicants will enter into a financial assistance agreement with Reclamation. Period of Performance will not exceed 5 years from date of issuance. BOR-MP-20-F001 will post on grants.gov, at www.grants.gov. The end date for receipt of proposals is on March 8, 2020, no later than 3pm. System for Award Management (SAM) applies to this FOA. Funds may be used to pay expenses associated with providing technical assistance and/or training (TAT) to: Identify and evaluate solutions to water problems relating to source, storage, treatment, or distribution; identify and evaluate solutions to waste problems relating to collection, treatment, or disposal: assist applicants, that have filed a pre-application with RUS, in the preparation of water and/or waste loan and/or grant applications; and/or provide technical assistance and/or training to water/wastewater system personnel that will improve the management, operation and maintenance of water and waste disposal facilities. Grant funds may not be used to duplicate current services, such as those performed by an association’s consultant in developing a project; fund political or lobbying activities; pay for capital assets; purchase real estate or vehicles; improve or renovate office space, or repair and maintain privately owned property; pay the costs for construction, improvement, rehabilitation, modification or operation and maintenance of water, wastewater, and solid waste disposal facilities; and pay costs incurred prior to effective date of grant.
