STOPS: Stopping Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) and Operationalizing Prevention Strategies $3,500,000.00

S/GWI announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) outlining concepts and capacity to design, implement, manage, and evaluate a project that will provide technical and capacity support for civil society in preventing, mitigating, and responding to technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), in at least one region. The U.S. Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence Globally affirms that preventing and responding to all forms of gender-based violence is a cornerstone of the U.S. government’s commitment to promoting democracy, advancing human rights, and furthering gender equity and equality. Gender-based violence is a human rights abuse, a form of discrimination, and a manifestation of unequal power based on gender. It occurs in every country and at every level of society, with direct and indirect costs to individuals; families; communities; economies; global public health; development; and human, national, and regional security. The United States Government has committed to address TFGBV, through the Global Partnership for Action on Gender-Based Online Harassment and Abuse, which will bring together countries, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector to better prioritize, understand, prevent, and address the growing scourge of technology-facilitated gender-based violence. The Global Partnership is also an action coalition as part of the Denmark-led Technology for Democracy initiative and a deliverable for the Summit for Democracy. S/GWI is looking for statements of interest that enhance and expand the capacity of civil society organizations to prevent, mitigate, and respond to TFGBV to support full, meaningful participation in society by women and girls in all their diversity.

Global Girls Climate Coalition: A project to build a movement of girl-centered climate action $3,000,000.00

The U.S. Department of State Secretary's Office of Global Women's Issues (S/GWI) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) outlining concepts and capacity to design, implement, manage, and evaluate a project that will build a movement of girl-centered climate action, leveraging the power and potential of girls, in all their diversity, to shape and inform policies and actions to combat climate change and related social and environmental issues. Competitive RSOIs may propose a consortium of U.S.-based and/or international organizations with global reach, with one lead organization serving as the primary recipient/applicant. Consortium members must demonstrate strong ties to local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and/or community-based organizations (CBOs) across chosen countries (particularly those specified for “In-Country Programming”) who can serve as local partners as appropriate. Project activities will support girls in communities across different regions of the world with tailored training in science and technology as well as holistic support in economic skills and social and emotional learning to further their innovations in solutions to the negative effects of climate change. The project will also form a global coalition of young innovators and change agents, supporting them to engage in policy and decision-making at local and international levels. Project activities must support girls from historically marginalized groups, particularly girls from groups and geographies that are disproportionately affected by climate change.

Project to create and foster a supportive community for secondary school-age youth to challenge harmful gender norms $3,500,000.00

S/GWI announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) outlining concepts and capacity to design, implement, manage, and evaluate a project to create and foster a supportive community for primarily secondary school-age youth, roughly between the ages of 13-19 years, with an objective of mitigating systemic barriers that limit the full economic and social participation of girls in all their diversity. Through these communities, these key populations will have access to more safe, equitable, and inclusive opportunities, with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and eventual careers. With this support and increased access, secondary school-age youth will be well-positioned to challenge harmful gender norms and contribute meaningfully to their communities. This project is the successor to S/GWI’s existing successful SHE’s GREAT project.
