Community Air Protection funds allow for immediate actions to improve the air quality of the most impacted communities across the state, while the other aspects of AB 617 are developed and implemented. Partnering with communities is essential to the success of these incentives, and both the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and air districts are looking to local community members and groups to help identify funding priorities

Through the California Climate Investments (CCI​) Fire Prevention Grant Program, CAL FIRE aims to reduce the risk of wildland fires to habitable structures and communities, while maximizing carbon sequestration in healthy wildland habitat and minimizing the uncontrolled release of emissions emitted by wildfires.

Project Types and Activities – The three qualifying projects and activities include those related to hazardous fuel reduction and removal of dead, dying, or diseased trees, fire prevention planning, and fire prevention education. Examples of qualifying projects and activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Hazardous Fuel Reduction
• Fire Prevention Education
• Fire Prevention Planning

All project and activity work related to grants must be completed by March 15, 2025 or March 15, 2026, depending on the source of the funds awarded.

The Clean Truck and Bus Vouchers program provides vouchers for the purchase of advanced technology heavy-duty trucks and buses to support the long-term transition to zero-emission vehicles in the heavy-duty market, as well as supporting investments in other emerging technology to help meet health-based ambient air quality standards, and achieve substantial greenhouse gas reductions.

Loans enrolled in the On-Road Heavy-Duty Vehicle Air Quality Loan Program can be used to finance heavy-duty trucks and buses (over 14,000 GVWR) equipped with engines certified to specified engine emission standards for 2007 and newer model year engines, and diesel exhaust retrofits. The California Capital Access Program (CalCAP) together with the California Air Resources Board may provide up to 100% coverage on certain loan defaults.

The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) promotes clean vehicle adoption by offering rebates of up to $7,000 for the purchase or lease of new, eligible zero-emission vehicles, including electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles. As long as funds are available, eligible California residents can follow a simple process to apply for a CVRP rebate after purchasing or leasing an eligible vehicle.
