Academy of Women Entrepreneurs 2023 $45,000.00

The U.S. Embassy Namibia under the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a new cohort of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE). The Public Diplomacy Section invites proposals from non-profit organizations, civil society organizations, and U.S. government alumni organizations to design and implement an entrepreneurship program that equips women entrepreneurs with skills and knowledge to grow their businesses and adapt to adverse economic situations while growing a local network of women-led businesses. The intended program should empower women entrepreneurs to realize their full economic potential. Participants of the AWE program will take part in facilitated in-person and virtual sessions with established Namibian and American women entrepreneurs, alumni of U.S.-funded exchange programs, and other experts from different fields that enrich the AWE experience. Applicants must include the online interactive DreamBuilder course as part of the proposal. The DreamBuilder curriculum teaches the skills and knowledge needed to start and grow a business. Additionally, proposals should provide a detailed program and timelines for AWE participants. The program may be held in several locations running cohorts of up to 30 participants and should have a strong American component.

Academy of Women Entrepreneurs Program in Consular District Hyderabad $65,775.00

Based on funding availability, this project will seek to train a total of 100 aspiring women entrepreneurs in TAO states, in cohorts of 25 women in four different locations of Warangal, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneswar, in basic business principles using the established Academy of Women Entrepreneurs/ DreamBuilder curriculum. This program will last approximately eight months and will involve 13 bi-weekly sessions, delivered in a combination of virtual and in-person classes, as well as two in-person bootcamps to provide additional training. Participants must be from 18 to 50 years of age with intermediate or better English skills. Chosen participants should be women who have limited resources to develop a business plan to start or grow their small businesses. The participant cohorts of 25 women (plus three alternates in each location) will take place in Warangal, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneswar. A select number of participants will be given the opportunity to make an express application to the American Center New Delhi-based NEXUS business incubator for advanced training. Ideally, the program will be announced with a call for applications on March 8, 2023 (International Women’s Day), and classes will begin in April of 2023. The final bootcamp should be completed by December 2023.

Africa Regional Services Paris Annual Program Statement: ARS Speaker Program $10,000.00

Africa Regional Services based in Paris (ARS) of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, Office of Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs announces an open competition for U.S. citizen individuals to submit a statement of interest (SOI) to be considered for a small grant as a guest speaker, artist, STEAM expert, or athlete/coach to conduct outreach activities that enhance the understanding of the United States in sub–Saharan Africa. ARS Speakers generally give professional lectures, seminars, as well as artistic and cultural workshops and masterclasses or conduct athletic camps and trainings. Please carefully follow all instructions below. The submission of the SOI is the first step in a two-step process. Applicants must first submit a concise one-page statement of interest, in English, designed to clearly communicate their area of expertise, credentials, and foreign language ability and attach a CV or resume. The SOI should include a description of the speaker’s presentation style, preferred audience, topics covered with a short outline, testimonials/brief endorsement, previous experience as a speaker and links to videos of presentation (if available). The purpose of the SOI is to allow applicants to submit their credentials for consideration of inclusion on ARS’ roster of available speakers who will collaborate with U.S. embassies and consulates in sub-Saharan Africa to reach target audiences. The second step begins once a merit review of eligible SOIs, selected applicants, are interviewed. Following the interview with the speaker team, successful applicants will be added to the roster. Successful applicants added to the roster will be contacted by the speaker team when a speaker request by an Africa-based U.S. embassy for a specific program match the applicant’s skills. Since its inception in 2011, AEIF has funded nearly 500 alumni-led projects worldwide through a competitive international competition. This year, the AEIF call for applications in the Dominican Republic will support the United States' commitment to promoting climate resilience, sustainability, and biodiversity protection through entrepreneurship and innovation; promoting inclusion and democratic participation; connecting Dominicans with American entrepreneurship and innovation resources; and promoting citizen security. The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo will accept public service* projects proposed and managed by teams of at least two (2) alumni that support objectives such as: Promoting and providing access to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) education and innovation to youth from underserved and/or rural communities. This also includes teacher training programs on best practices for STEAM education in underserved and/or rural communities. Empowering women and youth from underserved and/or rural communities through the arts and/or entrepreneurship training programs. Countering environmental challenges, increasing resilience, and developing local capacity to address ecological challenges that include but are not limited to countering climate change; transitioning to sustainable energy sources; promoting water and food security, and best practices for agriculture; protecting biodiversity; improving recycling and municipal waste management; and decreasing pollution, sedimentation, and run-off of plastics and debris into marine and coastal areas. Addressing current health and/or citizen security challenges with innovative and sustainable community-focused solutions. Improving the participation and empowerment of youth, women, and underrepresented groups including but not limited to people with disabilities, LGBT+ communities, and migrants in the Dominican Republic. This includes training and educational programming that empower such groups and that improve the capacity of local stakeholders (communities, government actors, academia, and the private sector) to promote inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, accountability, and protection of human rights in the Dominican Republic. *These projects must serve beneficiaries, free of charge, and the selection process used to choose beneficiaries must be transparent and receive approval from the Public Affairs Section.
