Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2023 Dominican Republic $35,000.00

AEIF provides alumni of U.S.-sponsored and facilitated exchange programs with funding to expand on skills gained during their exchange experience to design and implement innovative solutions to global challenges facing their community. Since its inception in 2011, AEIF has funded nearly 500 alumni-led projects worldwide through a competitive international competition. This year, the AEIF call for applications in the Dominican Republic will support the United States' commitment to promoting climate resilience, sustainability, and biodiversity protection through entrepreneurship and innovation; promoting inclusion and democratic participation; connecting Dominicans with American entrepreneurship and innovation resources; and promoting citizen security. The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo will accept public service* projects proposed and managed by teams of at least two (2) alumni that support objectives such as: Promoting and providing access to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) education and innovation to youth from underserved and/or rural communities. This also includes teacher training programs on best practices for STEAM education in underserved and/or rural communities. Empowering women and youth from underserved and/or rural communities through the arts and/or entrepreneurship training programs. Countering environmental challenges, increasing resilience, and developing local capacity to address ecological challenges that include but are not limited to countering climate change; transitioning to sustainable energy sources; promoting water and food security, and best practices for agriculture; protecting biodiversity; improving recycling and municipal waste management; and decreasing pollution, sedimentation, and run-off of plastics and debris into marine and coastal areas. Addressing current health and/or citizen security challenges with innovative and sustainable community-focused solutions. Improving the participation and empowerment of youth, women, and underrepresented groups including but not limited to people with disabilities, LGBT+ communities, and migrants in the Dominican Republic. This includes training and educational programming that empower such groups and that improve the capacity of local stakeholders (communities, government actors, academia, and the private sector) to promote inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, accountability, and protection of human rights in the Dominican Republic. *These projects must serve beneficiaries, free of charge, and the selection process used to choose beneficiaries must be transparent and receive approval from the Public Affairs Section.

AMMTO-BTO and OE FY22 Multi-Topic FOA $10,000,000.00

This multitopic FOA is a joint effort between EERE’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO), the Building Technologies Office (BTO), and DOE’s Office of Electricity (OE). Specifically, the goals of this multi-topic FOA are to: • Validate and demonstrate next generation materials and manufacturing processes including domestic pilot demonstrations and related technologies to support the transition to U.S. manufacturing; • Enable environmentally and socially responsible domestic manufacturing with diversified domestic supply of feedstocks including from recycled goods; and • Mature nascent technologies, processes, and methods that improve the performance and market penetration of clean energy technologies and emerging building efficiency technologies. This FOA will support activities to advance efficiency improvements and enhance manufacturing competitiveness through technological innovation by focusing on three main topic areas: (1) Next Generation Materials and Manufacturing Processes; (2) Secure and Sustainable Materials; and (3) Energy Technology Manufacturing. The multi-topic FOA integrates several identified research opportunities across AMMTO into a single funding opportunity that is intended to fund high-impact RD&D.

The U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to implement programs that foster stronger bilateral and regional ties through diverse public diplomacy programs on topics related to economic growth, climate change, and supporting and promoting democratic values and rights. Applications should include an American element. The U.S. content should include, for example, the substantial participation of U.S. experts or alumni of U.S. government exchange programs; partnership with U.S. organizations or educational institutions; the involvement of U.S. companies present in India; the application or adaptation of U.S. models and best practices; or learning materials related to American history, society, business, culture, politics, government, or institutions. While proposals may address multiple project objectives, each proposal should focus primarily on one of the following priority project areas: · Programs related to promoting capacity building and cooperation in the area of human health issues; · Programs that focus on tackling transnational crimes like human trafficking; · Creative programs that advance one or more of the priority areas to include but not limited to climate change; clean and renewable energy; space science and technology; and transformative technologies like artificial intelligence and virtual reality. · Programs related to promoting study in the United States, the internationalization of Indian universities, and/or building of linkages between American and Indian institutions of higher education · Programs related to U.S.-India bilateral trade, investment, economic integration, entrepreneurship, innovation, intellectual property rights. · Programs on understanding U.S.-India relations in the Indo-Pacific, including security cooperation and military/defense relations. · Programs that seek to promote a better understanding of diversity and inclusion; religious freedom; gender rights; LGBTQ rights; rights of persons with disabilities; rights of underrepresented or otherwise disadvantaged communities; and other aspects of human rights. · Activities that address the social, political, and economic barriers preventing the full participation of India’s female population in its growth. Proposed activities must take place in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, or Odisha. Proposals that include target audiences in more than one of these states will be viewed more favorably.

Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies (AFFECT) 2022 Appropriations $2,000,000.00

The Energy Policy Act of 19921 authorized the Secretary of Energy to establish a fund with the stated purpose of providing competitive grants to federal agencies to assist them in meeting the energy and water conservation requirements of the National Energy Conservation Policy Act (NECPA), 42 U.S.C. 8253 (a)-(b). Through this authority, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) created the Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies (AFFECT) program to provide direct funding to federal agencies for the development of capital projects to initiate, supplement, improve or otherwise increase the viability and deployment of widespread energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change mitigation and adaptation-resilience technology at U.S. federal government-owned facilities. Pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 8256 (b) (3), FEMP will make selections and awards through a competitive process detailed in the Federal Agency Call (FAC). FEMP will be seeking to make awards that support achievement of the Administration’s goals for federal leadership in clean energy, climate, environmental justice and equity as described in Executive Order (E.O.) 14057, Catalyzing America’s Clean Energy Economy Through Federal Sustainability, E.O. 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, and section 543 of the National Energy Conservation Policy Act (Pub. L. 95-619), as amended through the Energy Act of 2020 (Pub. L. 117-58; EA2020), codified at 42 U.S.C. 8253. Applications are sought from federal agencies for technical solutions that are in alignment with three Topic Areas: Topic Area 1: Projects Under Development Facing Reductions in Scope Due to Adverse Changes in Fiscal/Economic Conditions.
