California B-WET funds locally relevant, authentic experiential learning for K-12 audiences through Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs). MWEEs involve learning both outdoors and in the classroom as students engage in issue definition, outdoor field experiences, synthesis and conclusions, and action projects. The goal is to increase understanding and stewardship of the ocean, its local watersheds, and special areas like national marine sanctuaries. Projects advance the Next Generation Science Standards, the California Environmental Literacy Standards and Concepts, and the Ocean and Climate Literacy Essential Principles.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is announcing the potential availability of funding for agreements for the purposes of:• Promoting research collaboration between the NRCS Soil and Plant Science Division (SPSD) and university cooperators on significant national issues;• Providing technology transfer and training for NRCS staff;• Assisting in training of students in soil science and related fields.Proposals must be for projects based in the United States and its territories and possessions and focus on the priorities described in Section A of this notice. The EPA South Florida Program provides competitive grants to address the immediate and emerging ecological pressures and threats to south Florida waters including fresh waters, estuaries, bays, and coral reef, central to South Florida’s economic and ecological wellbeing. Aquatic ecosystems play a vital role supporting healthy and resilient estuaries, coastal, inland, and near-shore infrastructure by providing food, habitat, nutrient removal, water filtration, storm attenuation, carbon storage, shoreline stabilization, and other financial and tangible benefits.This RFA solicits applications for the South Florida Program region that includes the 16-county area covered by South Florida Water Management District as well as the Florida Keys; Florida Reef Tract; Caloosahatchee Estuary; Indian River Lagoon, St. Lucie Estuary; Florida Bay, and Biscayne Bay.

The Fish and Aquatic Conservation Program’s Branch of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) intends to award funding for its 2022 State and Interstate Aquatic Nuisance Species Management Plan (SIANSMP) Grant Program. Section 4724 of the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990, as amended (16 U.S.C. 4701-4741) (Act), authorized and provided general guidance for the development of State and Interstate Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Management Plans. The Act enables State governors to submit these plans to the ANS Task Force for approval. These comprehensive ANS Management Plans identify technical, enforcement, or financial assistance activities needed to prevent, eliminate, or reduce the environmental and public health and safety risks associated with ANS. ANS Management Plans focus on feasible, cost-effective management practices and measures to be undertaken by States to prevent and control ANS infestations in an environmentally sound manner. Once an ANS Management Plan is reviewed and approved by the ANS Task Force, the Act authorizes the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) to provide cost-share grants for the implementation of the approved plans. This Program has a two-stage application process (see sections D2 and E2, for more details). Stage One - the “Preliminary National Review” - is managed by the Service Headquarters office. The pre-proposal process will occur outside of Grant Solutions similar to how it has occurred in the past; for 2022, pre-proposals are due four weeks after posting of the NOFO. Stage Two - the “Regional Office Review and Grant Processing” - is managed by the Service Regional Offices (See the program administration contacts under section E2 below).

EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation’s (OAR) Targeted Airshed Grant Program is soliciting applications from eligible entities, as described in Section III.A of the announcement, for emission reduction activities in the nonattainment areas that the Agency has determined are the top five most polluted relative to the 8-hour ozone, annual PM2.5, or 24-hour PM2.5 standards, as listed in Tables 1-3 in Section I.A. of the announcement. The goal of the Targeted Airshed Grant Program is to fund activities in applicable nonattainment areas that will achieve documentable reductions of emissions that contribute to ozone and/or PM2.5 concentrations. Pollutants contributing to ozone concentrations are nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Pollutants contributing to PM2.5 concentrations are direct PM2.5 and PM2.5 precursors NOx, VOCs, sulfur dioxide (SO2), and ammonia. Projects should include detailed, well thought-out emission reduction activities, including projects, programs, policies, approaches, and/or deploying technologies that achieve documentable emission reductions. Projects must be for emission reduction activities that will assist with attaining and/or maintaining the NAAQS for these pollutants, and that demonstrate the potential for inclusion in the affected jurisdiction’s State Implementation Plan (SIP) or Tribal Implementation Plan (TIP) submission to EPA intended to meet or maintain those standards.

The USDA Forest Service is announcing the availability of up to $8 million in funding to support the establishment of temporary bridge rental programs for portable skidder bridges, bridge mats, or other temporary water crossing structures, to minimize stream bed disturbance on non-Federal land and Federal land.

The U.S. Forest Service requests proposals to substantially expand and accelerate wood energy and wood products markets throughout the United States to support forest management needs on National Forest System and other forest lands. This Request for Proposals focuses on the following priorities to: • Reduce hazardous fuels and improve forest health on National Forest System and other forestlands. • Reduce costs of forest management on all land types. • Promote economic and environmental health of communities. The intent of the Wood Innovations Funding Opportunity is to stimulate, expand, and support wood products markets and wood energy markets. Projects can include, but are not limited to: 1. Completing requirements, such as engineering designs, cost analyses, and permitting necessary, in the later stages of commercial construction projects that use wood as a primary building material and in the later stages of wood energy project development to secure financing. Early phase project development proposals will not be competitive. 2. Developing manufacturing capacity, other necessary wood products infrastructure, and markets for wood products that support forest ecosystem restoration. 3. Showcasing quantifiable environmental and economic benefits of using wood as a sustainable building material in an actual commercial building and the projected benefits achieved if replicated across the United States based on commercial construction market trends. 4. Establishing statewide wood utilization teams and statewide wood energy teams. Only proposals from States without an existing (or former) team will be considered. 5. Developing a cluster of wood energy projects in a geographic area or specific sector (e.g., prisons, hospitals, universities, manufacturing sector, or industrial sector). 6. Overcoming market barriers and stimulating expansion of wood energy in the commercial sector. The USDA Forest Service is announcing the availability of up to $12.5 million in funding to provide financial assistance to facilities that purchase and process byproducts from ecosystem restoration projects from federal or Indian lands in areas at risk of unnaturally severe wildfire or insect and disease infestation. The intent is to substantially decrease the cost of conducting restoration projects involving vegetation removal on federal or Indian lands. These byproducts could include the trees and woody biomass harvested through timber sales, thinning, hazardous fuels reduction treatments, or other restoration management activities.Funding priority will be to provide financial assistance to an entity seeking to establish, reopen, retrofit, expand, or improve a sawmill or other wood-processing facility that will utilize the byproducts from projects on federal land of Indian land that have been identified as at risk for fire, insect, or disease and a high priority for ecological restoration. To be eligible for funding, the project facility must be in close proximity to federal or Indian lands and procure raw materials from federal or Indian lands. Successful applicants will address how financial support will enable increased utilization of byproducts from ecosystem restoration projects on federal or Indian lands that are in close proximity to a wood products processing facility or bioenergy facility and how this assistance will help reduce restoration costs.The grants and agreements awarded under this announcement will support the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Pub. L. 117-58 (11/15/2021), Sec. 40804(b)3.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (hereinafter, "NMFS") recognizes the unique importance of marine mammals to Alaska Native Organizations (hereinafter, "ANOs") and values ongoing efforts by Alaska Native Tribes and ANOs to conserve and protect subsistence species under NMFS' jurisdiction. Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. §1388, NMFS may provide Federal assistance to ANOs to conserve marine mammals and to promote co-management of Alaska Native subsistence use of such mammals under NMFS' jurisdiction. This assistance, provided in the form of cooperative agreements, may be used to support conservation of marine mammals utilized for subsistence purposes by Alaska Natives. Funded activities may include development and implementation of species management, subsistence harvest monitoring, subsistence harvest sampling, scientific research, and public education and outreach. Proposed activities should address priority actions identified in an Endangered Species Act Recovery Plan or Marine Mammal Protection Act Conservation Plan where applicable and the priorities identified within this federal funding opportunity. Tribally-Authorized ANOs with a signed agreement for co-management with NMFS are eligible to apply under this solicitation. Proposals focusing on marine mammals under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will not be considered for funding under this grant program.
