The primary objective of the program is to provide grants to Agriculture Innovation Centers that will provide technical assistance to agricultural producers to market value-added agricultural products.

Federal Funding Floor and Ceiling Amounts The estimated funding floor for this opportunity is $7,500.00 and the estimated funding ceiling is $60,000.00. The funding floor means the minimum agreement funding amount for the Federal share per agreement awarded. Federal Financial Assistance Training The funding available through this NFO is Federal financial assistance. It consists of five modules covering each of the following topics: 1) laws, regulations, and guidance; 2) financial assistance mechanisms; 3) uniform guidance administrative requirements; 4) cost principles; and 5) risk management and single audit. The purpose of this program is to promote and strengthen the ability of Alaska Native-Serving Institutions and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions to carry out education, applied research, and related community development programs. NIFA intends this program to address educational needs, as determined by each institution, within a broadly defined arena of food and agricultural sciences-related disciplines. Priority will be given to those projects that enhance educational equity for underrepresented students; strengthen institutional educational capacities; prepare students for careers related to the food, agricultural, and natural resource systems of the United States; and maximize the development and use of resources to improve food and agricultural sciences teaching programs.

Alfalfa Seed and Alfalfa Forage System Program (ASAFS) will support the development of improved alfalfa forage and seed production systems. Proposals submitted to ASAFS should address one or more of the following priorities: (1) Improving alfalfa forage and seed yield through better nutrient, water and/or pest management; (2) Improving persistence of alfalfa stands by lessening biotic or abiotic stresses; (3) Improving alfalfa forage and seed harvesting and storage systems to optimize economic returns; (4) Improving estimates of alfalfa forage quality as an animal feed to increase forage usage in animal feeds; and/or (5) Breeding to address biotic and abiotic stresses that impact forage yield and persistence and the production of seed for propagation.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture's (CDFA) Alternative Manure Management Program (AMMP) awards competitive grants to California dairy and livestock operations for technologies and specific management practices that result in long-term methane emission reductions and maximize environmental benefits. 

Financial incentives to implement non-digester practices to reduce or avoid methane emissions, including solid separation, conversion from flush to scrape manure collection and enhanced pasture-based management practices.

The Alternative to Agricultural Open Burning Incentive Pilot Program provides incentives to commercial agricultural operations located within Valley Air District boundaries to chip or shred agricultural material. The material must be used for soil incorporation or land application on agricultural land as an alternative to the open burning of the agricultural materials. Complete applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis while funds are available.

The primary goal of American Rescue Plan Technical Assistance Investment Program is to ensure improved understanding of and equitable participation in the full range of USDA programs and services among underserved farmers, ranchers, forest land owners and operators through supporting the organizational delivery of technical assistance projects and establishment of technical assistance networks. USDA is authorized to support and facilitate the establishment of technical assistance projects toward this goal. Projects must provide a range of technical assistance services to underserved agricultural producers. The term “agricultural producer” is used to refer to agricultural farmers, ranchers, and private forest land owners and operators.
