The California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) is a unique and streamlined program to help speed the early market introduction of clean, low-carbon hybrid and electric trucks and buses. HVIP accomplishes this by addressing the biggest barrier to the purchase of medium- and heavy-duty advanced trucks: the high incremental cost of these vehicles in the early market years when production volumes are still low. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support studies that will identify, develop, and/or test strategies for overcoming barriers to the adoption, adaptation, integration, scale-up, and sustainability of evidence-based interventions, practices, programs, tools, treatments, guidelines, and policies. Studies that promote equitable dissemination and implementation of evidence-based interventions among underrepresented communities are encouraged. Conversely, there is a benefit in understanding circumstances that create a need to stop or reduce (de-implement) the use of practices that are ineffective, unproven, low-value, or harmful. In addition, studies to advance dissemination and implementation research methods and measures are encouraged. All applications must be within the scope of the mission of one of the Institutes/Centers listed above.

More than 25 million Americans suffer from daily chronic pain, a highly debilitating medical condition that is complex and difficult to manage. In recent decades, there has been an overreliance in the prescription of opioids for chronic pain despite their poor ability to improve function and high addiction liability. This contributed to a significant and alarming epidemic of opioid overdose deaths and addictions. Innovative scientific solutions to develop alternative pain treatment options are thus critically needed. Through targeted research efforts, the NIH HEAL Initiative aims to support the development of safe and effective devices to treat pain with little or no addiction liability. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is designed to support interdisciplinary research teams of multiple PD/PIs to investigate the mechanism of action of pain relief by medical devices with the overall goal of optimizing therapeutic outcomes for FDA-approved or -cleared technologies. Program teams are expected to accomplish goals that require considerable synergy and collaborative interactions. Teams must leverage appropriate multi-disciplinary expertise to develop new principles and methods for experimentation, analysis, and interpretation. Teams are encouraged to consider objectives that will produce major advances in the field of pain relief by medical devices.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites applications for a Measurement Core for the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program. Working collaboratively with the other members of the ECHO Cohort consortium, the ECHO Cohort Measurement Core will: 1) develop and refine measures for the ECHO Cohort Protocol, including methods to implement the measures; 2) assist all ECHO Cohort Study Sites, Cores, and Centers in implementing and evaluating the ECHO Cohort Protocol which comprises standardized measures at specified study visits; and 3) lead strategic decision-making to incorporate new and revised measures to advance ECHO Cohort science while moderating participant and staff burden. The HIV/Cervical Cancer Prevention 'CASCADE' Clinical Trials Network seeks to evaluate innovative approaches for overcoming barriers and reducing failures in the cervical cancer screening and treatment cascade for women living with HIV. The proposed multicenter network will conduct pragmatic clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of clinically proven interventions in intended-use settings with a goal to optimize the cervical cancer screening, management, and precancer treatment cascade for women living with HIV. These trials will focus on the health care continuum for secondary cervical cancer prevention, i.e., increasing screening uptake, improving management of screen positives, facilitating precancer treatment access, and optimizing precancer treatments. Data from these trials will be used to provide the necessary evidence to refine clinical practice guidelines and inform public health policy with a goal to generate crucial actionable evidence for improving cervical cancer prevention implementation programs. Six-to-eight UG1 cooperative agreement mechanism-funded Clinical Sites, led by clinical investigators and/or clinicians, will provide a pluripotent clinical infrastructure to conduct/implement multiple prevention clinical trials through the CASCADE network and interface with network grantees during concept and protocol development to provide insights and input on clinical significance and study feasibility.

The scientific objective of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to encourage research to delineate the role of inflammasomes in the neuropathology produced by acute or chronic drug exposure and HIV infection. Understanding the involvement of inflammasomes in virus and drug-induced immune activation may help identify molecular markers and CNS immune cells associated with HIV-1 infection or disease progression among substance abuse populations, as well as identify novel therapies to target inflammasome activation or suppression to treat neuroinflammation and immune dysregulation aroused in these processes.

TheInterventions that Address Structural Racism to Reduce Kidney Health DisparitiesConsortium aims to foster community-engaged intervention research to address structural racism to reduce health disparities among individuals living with kidney disease. The Consortium will consist of one Research Coordinating Center and multiple Intervention Sites (seeRFA-DK-22-014)that will work collaboratively to develop, implement and evaluate meaningful interventions that aim to dismantle or mitigate the effects of structural racism to reduce kidney health disparities. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for theResearch Coordinating Center(RCC) that will lead, manage, and harmonize efforts for the Consortium. The specific activities of the RCC will include: 1) providing organization, management, and administrative support of Consortium activities; 2) providing research coordination, data management and data analyses for Consortium studies; and 3) fostering research collaborations and helping to build a community of investigators with skills to develop, implement, and disseminate effective, scalable, and sustainable interventions that address the structural drivers of kidney health disparities.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits grant applications proposing exploratory research projects focused on further development and validation of emerging technologies that improve the quality of the samples used for cancer research or clinical care. This includes new capabilities to address issues related to pre-analytical degradation of targeted analytes during the collection, processing, handling, and/or storage of cancer-relevant biospecimens. This FOA solicits R33 applications where major feasibility gaps for the technology or methodology have been overcome, as demonstrated with supportive preliminary data, but still requires further development and rigorous validation to encourage adoption by the research community. The overall goal is to support the development of highly innovative technologies capable of maximizing or otherwise interrogating the quality and utility of biological samples used for downstream analyses. This FOA will support the development of tools, devices, instrumentation, and associated methods to preserve or protect sample integrity, or establish verification criteria for quality assessment/quality control and handling under diverse conditions. These technologies are expected to accelerate and/or enhance research in cancer biology, early detection and screening, clinical diagnosis, treatment, epidemiology, or address issues associated with cancer health disparities, by reducing pre-analytical variations that affect biospecimen sample quality.

This funding opportunity announcement is designed to support biomedical knowledgebases. Biomedical knowledgebases under this announcement should have the primary function to extract, accumulate, organize, annotate, and link growing bodies of information related to core datasets. Support for data curation should include efficient and effective methods of curation that scale to the needs of community and include semi-automated methods.Support for software and tool development must be limited to that which provides essential functions or significantly increases the efficiency of operation of the knowledgebase. Applications that have a significant focus on software and tool development are not appropriate for this activity.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) announces the availability of support for collaborative research by multi-disciplinary teams which is of high priority to NIDA and leads to synergistic outcomes based on the synthesis of multiple research approaches. The NIDA Program Projects funding opportunity will support research in which the funding of three or more highly meritorious projects as a group enriches both the component projects and the overall program to offer significant scientific advantages over supporting the same projects as individual research grants (i.e., synergy). For the duration of the award, each Program must consist of a minimum of three research projects focused on issues critical to advance the mission and goals of NIDA.
