This Funding Opportunity Announcement invites applications from experienced investigators seeking to conduct exploratory clinical trials designed to test new treatments for patients with Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). Applicants may propose to conduct either Phase I or Phase II clinical trials depending on the developmental stage of the potential therapeutic, but all trials must include patients with LBD. Proposed therapies may include novel medications or devices, or existing treatments that are potentially beneficial but not currently approved for use in patients with LBD. Treatments intended to prevent or delay disease progression in LBD patients, as well as therapies to alleviate existing motor or non-motor clinical symptoms, are of interest.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support translational and clinical research to (1) advance precision medicine in pregnant persons, lactating persons, and children through the development of novel tools, models, and other technologies that could have a direct clinical or health impact; (2) enhance the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of drug action, including the role of pediatric ontogeny and the dynamic physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and lactation; and (3) discover and develop novel therapeutics or enhance the usage of existing drugs or drug repurposing for safer and more effective medications in pregnant and lactating persons, neonates, and children. The overall goal is to improve safe and effective precision therapeutics for pregnant and lactating persons, fetuses, neonates, and children, including those with disabilities.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to establish Centers to support research that will accelerate the translational use of Microphysiological Systems (MPS) in drug development through regulatory acceptance and adoption for industrial use, by establishing MPS that are fit-for-purpose for industry needs and have specific defined contexts of use (CoUs) and will be developed with consideration of applicable expectations to achieve regulatory approval. For this FOA, the term drugs refers to both human pharmacological and biological products unless otherwise specified. These Centers will further the development of MPS as drug development tools (DDTs) that, once qualified, will be made publicly and commercially available to fill unmet needs in drug development.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will support projects proposing mechanistic studies that will transform our understanding of polysubstance use in addiction. These hypothesis-based, exploratory projects may investigate mechanisms of polysubstance use at the behavioral, cognitive, cellular, circuit, genetic, epigenetic, pharmacological and/or computational levels.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this NCI R25 program is to support research and educational activities that enhance the diversity of the cancer biomedical workforce. We seek to do this by providing training navigation to support scholars from diverse backgrounds, including individuals from groups shown to be underrepresented in the cancer biomedical workforce. The TEAM program will pilot test the use of training champions (TCs) at minority serving institutions (MSIs) to support the development of educational activities and scientific career development programs to enhance the preparation, productivity and progress of scholars from diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, in the Notice of NIH's Interest in Diversity, NOT-OD-20-031. The career development levels of focus for this FOA will include predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows, and early-stage investigators (ESIs). TCs are defined as personnel located within the MSI who can assist potential applicants with their plans to apply, attain, or transition to an independent grant award. This RFA will leverage TCs to assist scholars in identifying funding opportunities, networking with appropriate NCI/NIH program directors, and locating resources for competitive application preparation. TCs will also provide additional training support, navigation, and resources to enhance the skills required to successfully identify, prepare, submit, and obtain grants and career development opportunities. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Courses for Skills Development and Mentoring Activities.

The Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC) announces a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Recruitment (TLR) project, part of the Tomorrow’s Leaders (TL) program, a leadership development program that provides scholarships for approximately 40 qualified, diverse, underserved students from MENA countries to attend American, nonprofit, higher education institutions based in the MENA region and accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized regional accreditation body.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NFO) is being released prior to appropriation and/or apportionment of funds for fiscal year 2022. Enactment of additional continuing resolutions or an appropriations act may affect the availability or level of funding for this program. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is announcing the availability of funding for the purpose of leveraging NRCS resources to encourage collaboration with partners in providing farm bill program outreach and education to historically underserved groups. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is intended to support novel environmental health research in which an unpredictable event or policy change provides a limited window of opportunity to collect human biological samples or environmental exposure data. The primary motivation of the FOA is to understand the consequences of natural and human-made disasters, emerging environmental public health threats, and policy changes in the U.S. and abroad. A distinguishing feature of an appropriate study is the need for rapid review and funding, substantially shorter than the typical NIH grant review/award cycle, for the research question to be addressed and swiftly implemented.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) establishes an accelerated review/award process to support research to understand health outcomes related to an unexpected and/or time-sensitive event (e.g., emergent environmental threat; pandemic; change in local, state, or national policy; natural disaster). Applications in response to this FOA must demonstrate that the research proposed is time-sensitive and must be initiated with minimum delay due to a limited window of opportunity to collect baseline data, answer key research questions, and/or prospectively evaluate a new policy or program. This FOA is intended to support opportunities in which empirical study could only be available through expedited review and funding, necessitating a substantially shorter process than the typical NIH grant review/award cycle. The time from submission to award is expected to occur within 4-5 months. However, administrative requirements and other unforeseen circumstances may delay issuance dates beyond that timeline.

HUD’s Thriving Communities Technical Assistance program will provide funding to technical assistance providers to help local governments ensure housing needs are considered as part of their larger infrastructure investment plans, while also supporting equitable development and local economic development ecosystems in Disadvantaged Communities (as defined in this NOFO). Through this NOFO, HUD is announcing the availability of $5 million in FY 2022 funding. HUD anticipates no fewer than two and no more than five awards for grantees to provide technical assistance (TA) to units of general local government (UGLGs) (as defined in this NOFO), which may also support the UGLGs’ work with non-profit and cross-sector partners serving Disadvantaged Communities. Using a wide range of eligible activities, HUD expects TA awardees under this NOFO to focus on assisting UGLGs in the following four areas: a) Identifying and using vacant, abandoned, or underutilized land located on or near transportation projects that is suitable for housing development (including land owned by federal, state, and local governmental entities as well as the private sector) to create location-efficient housing. b) Preserving affordable housing and protecting residents and businesses from displacement as new infrastructure is deployed. c) Identifying and implementing regulatory and procedural reforms to reduce unnecessary barriers to location-efficient housing that impede housing production and increase development costs. d) Improving coordination both among public entities (for example, local housing, transportation, planning, and community development departments) and between public entities and state recipients of infrastructure funding; transit authorities and other quasi-public entities; the private sector; and locally-based organizations in ways that support a holistic and regional approach to housing and transportation. The TA provided by awardees through this NOFO will respond to the local market conditions and context of the UGLG. The length and offerings of the TA engagement will be designed to ensure a measurable impact on the UGLG’s goals. To that end, HUD is seeking awardees that will take a localized, holistic approach to technical assistance, working across sectors and building local capacity.
