This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages UG3/UH3 phased cooperative research applications to accelerate implementation of effective non-opioid interventions for chronic pain management in rural and remote populations. Projects include pragmatic, implementation, or hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials to improve pain management and reduce the use of inappropriate opioid medications. Awards made under this FOA will initially support a milestone-driven, planning phase (UG3) of 1 to 2 years, with possible transition to an implementation phase (UH3) of up to 4 years duration (5 years total for the two phases). UG3 projects that have met the scientific milestone and feasibility requirements may transition to the UH3 phase. The UG3/UH3 application must be submitted as a single application, following the instructions described in this FOA. The overall goal of this initiative is to support the "real world" implementation of effective interventions to manage pain in rural and remote areas. Results from the trials supported by this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) should inform policy makers, payers, community stakeholders, as well as health care providers and patients in the primary care, emergency department, hospital, home health, or dental setting. This FOA requires that the investigators partner with one or more rural healthcare system(s) to plan and implement the intervention. During the planning phase, investigators must develop an additional one or more community-based partnership(s). Studies may propose to integrate multi-component, bundled, or multi-level interventions that have demonstrated efficacy.

Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announces the opportunity to apply for a total of up to $6.5 million for transit bus automation demonstration projects under the Public Transportation Innovation Program (49 U.S.C. § 5312 ). The notice seeks to fund demonstrations in two areas: (1) up to $5 million for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Transit Buses and (2) up to $1.5 million for Automated Transit Bus Maintenance and Yard Operations. Selected projects will demonstrate transit bus automation technologies in real-world settings. The demonstrations will help establish the feasibility of ADAS and Automated Transit Bus Maintenance and Yard Operations use cases and improve understanding of the impacts.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Nutrition Research (ONR) and participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) intend to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for new applications that will support new institutional research training programs (predoctoral, postdoctoral or both) in artificial intelligence (AI) for precision nutrition (AIPrN) that will focus on integration of the domains of precision nutrition, AI including machine learning (ML), systems biology, systems science, Big Data, and computational analytics. The goal is to build a future workforce that will be able to use growing data resources to tackle complex biomedical challenges in nutrition science that are beyond human intuition. It is hoped such research will lead to the development of innovative solutions to combat diet-related chronic diseases within the mission areas of the participating ICs. The vision of the AIPrN training program is to support the development of a diverse research workforce capable who will possess advanced competencies in AI including machine learning and data science analytics to apply to an increasingly complex landscape of Big Data from the molecular, to organismal, to community and societal scales related to nutrition and diet related conditions.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits grant applications proposing exploratory research projects focused on further development and validation of emerging technologies that improve the quality of the samples used for cancer research or clinical care. This includes new capabilities to address issues related to pre-analytical degradation of targeted analytes during the collection, processing, handling, and/or storage of cancer-relevant biospecimens. This FOA solicits R33 applications where major feasibility gaps for the technology or methodology have been overcome, as demonstrated with supportive preliminary data, but still requires further development and rigorous validation to encourage adoption by the research community. The overall goal is to support the development of highly innovative technologies capable of maximizing or otherwise interrogating the quality and utility of biological samples used for downstream analyses. This FOA will support the development of tools, devices, instrumentation, and associated methods to preserve or protect sample integrity, or establish verification criteria for quality assessment/quality control and handling under diverse conditions. These technologies are expected to accelerate and/or enhance research in cancer biology, early detection and screening, clinical diagnosis, treatment, epidemiology, or address issues associated with cancer health disparities, by reducing pre-analytical variations that affect biospecimen sample quality.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) participating Institutes and Centers (ICs), in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD), invite applications for implementation research focused on addressing risk factors for common noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in World Bank-defined low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal Nation populations in the United States. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports innovative approaches to identifying, understanding, developing, and implementingstrategies for overcoming barriers to the adoption, adaptation, integration, scale-up, and sustainability of evidence-based interventions, tools, policies, and guidelines. In addition, studies to advance dissemination and implementation research methods and measures into application are encouraged. Specifically, this FOA invites applications that propose implementation research targeted to reducing the risks of NCDs in the context of cities in LMICs and/or among AI/AN Tribal Nation populations in cities in the United States, with the potential to equip policymakers and practitioners with evidence-based strategies for prevention and/or management of NCDs among disadvantaged populations globally. In the context of this FOA, "cities" include urban centers, informal settlements and slums, and periurban areas.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to provide investigators with access to resources provided by the Data Management Coordinating Center for Diagnostic Centers of Excellence (RFA-NS-22-051), as part of the next phase of the Undiagnosed Diseases Network. Resources include infrastructure, data management, and clinical research support for a new Network of clinical sites that provide diagnostic services for patients with undiagnosed diseases.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) supports a program of longitudinal cohorts to address emerging and high priority research on HIV/AIDS in the context of injection and non-injection substance abuse. These cohorts provide a strong resource platform for current and future collaborative efforts with other investigators to address emerging questions related to HIV pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment in the context of substance abuse, as well as to foster the creativity and efficiency of investigatorinitiated research projects. The diverse research activities among these cohorts include basic immunologic, and virologic studies, as well as studies on HIV prevention and treatment, and the co-morbidities and co-infections associated with HIV and substance abuse. NIDA has determined that a coordinating center (CC) is needed in order to take advantage of these rich sources of data and bio-specimens and optimize collaborations among both the cohort investigators and other researchers not funded under the cohort program. In addition, the CC is expected to establish a virtual repository, and facilitate the leadership of the cohorts steering committee (SC), consisting of representatives from the NIDA-funded cohorts and NIDA staff.

This FOA invites applications to participate in a research program cooperative agreement to support the Prevention and Treatment through a Comprehensive Care Continuum for HIV-affected Adolescents in Resource Constrained Settings Implementation Science Network (PATC3H-IN). The Network will expand successes achieved by PATC3H to new geographic settings with limited implementation science (IS) research capacity and/or risk populations who are poorly represented in international adolescent HIV research (e.g. sexual and gender minorities; commercial sex workers; drug users) and stimulate much needed IS research in a neglected area of public health significance: prevention of new HIV infections among adolescents at risk and the identification of, and linkage and retention to care of and long-term viral suppression among youth living with HIV in low-to-middle income countries (LMICs). These settings must have an HIV epidemic density defined by UNAIDS estimates as either a country 1) in which at least 200,000 people are living with HIV and the number has not decreased by more than 5% over the last 2 consecutive years of available data or 2) has an HIV incidence among youth ages 10 to 24 years of 0.01% or more.
