The Low-Income Weatherization Program's (LIWP's) Farmworker Housing Component installs no-cost energy efficiency improvements and/or solar PV systems for qualified farmworker households. Funded by the State of California to help households save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the program lowers energy costs for families and makes other improvements to improve the livability of housing. 

Launched in 2019, the LIWP Farmworker Housing Component provides services in the 12 counties in California that have the highest farmworker populations, including:

The Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program (AHSC) creates healthier communities and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the supply of affordable housing near jobs, amenities, and transportation options. This program has received $1,121.8 million. $433.8 million has been implemented

Who can access funds?

Local governments, transportation and transit agencies, non-profit and for-profit housing developers, joint powers authorities, K-12 school, college and university districts, federally recognized Native American tribes.

The Affordable Multifamily Financing program targets multifamily properties where at least 50% of the units are income restricted.

Like all of the programs highlighted on GoGreen Financing, the Affordable Multifamily Financing program is designed to encourage growth in private market lending and features a credit enhancement to help financing entities mitigate risk. It is designed to leverage and complement existing state and utility efforts to encourage affordable multifamily properties to install energy efficiency retrofits.

Property must receive electric and/or gas service from any of the following investor-owned utilities (IOU):

• Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E®)
• San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E®)
• Southern California Edison (SCE®)
• Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®)

The California Department of Food and Agriculture's (CDFA) Alternative Manure Management Program (AMMP) awards competitive grants to California dairy and livestock operations for technologies and specific management practices that result in long-term methane emission reductions and maximize environmental benefits. 

Financial incentives to implement non-digester practices to reduce or avoid methane emissions, including solid separation, conversion from flush to scrape manure collection and enhanced pasture-based management practices.

CAL FIRE’s Forest Health Program funds active restoration and reforestation activities aimed at providing for more resilient and sustained forests to ensure future existence of forests in California while also mitigating climate change, protecting communities from fire risk, strengthening rural economies and improving California’s water & air.

Through grants to regionally-based partners and collaboratives, CAL FIRE seeks to significantly increase fuels management, fire reintroduction, treatment of degraded areas, and conservation of forests.

Project activities funded by CAL FIRE's Forest Health Grant Program may include:

• Forest fuels reduction
• Prescribed fire
• Pest management
• Reforestation
• Biomass utilization
• Conservation easements and/or land acquisition through the Forest Legacy Program
• Research through the Forest Research Program

The California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) Environmental Justice (EJ) Small Grants Program offers funding opportunities authorized by California Code of Regulations Title 27, Division 1, Chapter 3, Article 1 to assist eligible non-profit community organizations and federally-recognized Tribal governments address environmental justice issues in areas disproportionately affected by environmental pollution and hazards. The EJ Small Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.

2021 Notice of Funding Availability

In March 2021, CalEPA announced it is accepting applications for its 2021 grant cycle. For each project, the maximum grant amount is $50,000. CalEPA plans to announce the grant awards in the fall of 2021. The grant term will be 18 months, approximately from fall 2021 through Spring 2023.

The California Clean Fuel Reward is available to anyone who buys or leases a new electric vehicle with a battery capacity greater than 5 kWh from a participating automotive retailer. The customer must register the vehicle in California and the customer must reside in California. 

The California Air Resources Board and your electric utility want to make it easier to own an EV. That’s why we’re providing the California Clean Fuel Reward to people who purchase or lease an eligible* new Battery Electric (BEV) or Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicle at participating automotive retailers. This is on top of any applicable federal, state, and local incentives, rebates, and tax credits.

Through the California Climate Investments (CCI​) Fire Prevention Grant Program, CAL FIRE aims to reduce the risk of wildland fires to habitable structures and communities, while maximizing carbon sequestration in healthy wildland habitat and minimizing the uncontrolled release of emissions emitted by wildfires.

Project Types and Activities – The three qualifying projects and activities include those related to hazardous fuel reduction and removal of dead, dying, or diseased trees, fire prevention planning, and fire prevention education. Examples of qualifying projects and activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Hazardous Fuel Reduction
• Fire Prevention Education
• Fire Prevention Planning

All project and activity work related to grants must be completed by March 15, 2025 or March 15, 2026, depending on the source of the funds awarded.

Corpsmembers aged 18 – 25 years old complete a year of paid service and receive on-the-job training while completing projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Energy Corps projects include energy efficiency audits and retrofits. Individuals can apply to participate in the Energy Corps and organizations can apply to provide projects for the Energy Corps.

Corpsmembers aged 18 – 25 years old complete a year of paid service and receive on-the-job training while completing projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  California Conservation Corps (CCC) projects include reforestation, forest fuel reduction, habitat restoration, urban greening and community forestry.

Individuals can apply to participate in the Forest Health CCC program and organizations can apply to provide projects for the Forest Health CCC program.
