Title Due Date Maximum Award Amount Description
Residential EV Charging Incentive Program No Due Date Given Varies

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) has established a residential Electric Vehicle (EV) charging incentive program to offset Level 2 (240v) EV charger hardware costs. This program will be available to residents within the South Coast AQMD’s four-county jurisdiction.

The program will provide an incentive to buy-down the cost of residential chargers, which typically range from $400-$800. The program is administered on a first-come, first-served basis and provides up to a $250 rebate or the cost paid for the charger, whichever is lower.  Low-income residents can qualify for a total rebate of $500 or the cost paid for the charger, whichever is lower

Wood Stove & Fireplace Change-Out Incentive Program No Due Date Given Varies

The program offers deep discounts and, for low income qualified, may be free to some. See the FAQ below more details. In the process of reducing emissions from wood burning devices, South Coast AQMD is offering an incentive for residents, renters (with landlord approval), or landlords of a rental property in the areas surrounding cities of Riverside and San Bernardino or the community of Boyle Heights to replace their wood burning device. If you are a resident of one of these areas you may be eligible to receive funds for an installation of a cleaner burning alternative.

Vehicle & Engine Upgrades No Due Date Given Varies

One of South Coast AQMD’s roles is to encourage the immediate use of commercially available, low, near-zero and zero emissions mobile and stationary technologies.  A variety of financial incentives, which include grants for incremental funding, subsidies or vouchers, are designed to promote voluntary introduction of new technologies on an accelerated schedule.  These incentives also provide manufacturers with justification to gear up for mass production of cleaner technologies.

Locomotive Program No Due Date Given Varies

The Locomotive Program provides incentive funds for the replacement of old high-polluting locomotives to new Tier 4 units. Alternative switcher locomotives include genset locomotives (Multi-engine switcher) and electric-hybrid locomotives. Multi-engine switchers are typically powered by two or three off-road engines, while electric hybrids use a small diesel engine to charge batteries that provide locomotive power.

Ag Pump Program No Due Date Given Varies

This program provides incentives for engine replacement (repower) of engines/motors used to power agricultural irrigation pumps. Electrified Dairy Feed Mixing Program No Due Date Given Varies

The District has developed this new pilot incentive program to target the installation of electric feed mixing equipment and further reduce diesel emissions from tractors and other mobile equipment and vehicles at Valley dairies and other confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs). The primary emission reductions from this program will be from the elimination of existing ag tractors that mix and deliver feed, the elimination or reduction in usage of on-road trucks used to deliver feed, and reduction in usage of any remaining off-road equipment used in the feeding process. Further emission reductions and cost-savings to Valley dairies and CAFO's will be achieved through increased efficiencies of the new systems that result in an overall reduction in feed mixing equipment usage. Due to the complexity of this program, it is strongly advised that interested applicants speak with program staff to ensure proper submittal of an application.

Truck Replacement Program No Due Date Given Varies

The District is currently accepting applications to replace on-road diesel trucks with cleaner technology units or to expand fleets with the cleanest technology available. Truck replacement projects that will accelerate emission reductions in low income and disadvantaged communities experiencing greater air quality impacts may receive priority through the project review and selection process. Projects funded under this program must achieve emission reductions not required by law or regulation. Please note that Truck Replacement Program is not a rebate program, any new truck purchased prior to contract execution is ineligible. For additional information, please contact the SJVAPCD grants program staff by email grants@valleyair.org or phone (559) 230-5800.
