The District has developed this new pilot incentive program to target the installation of electric feed mixing equipment and further reduce diesel emissions from tractors and other mobile equipment and vehicles at Valley dairies and other confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs). The primary emission reductions from this program will be from the elimination of existing ag tractors that mix and deliver feed, the elimination or reduction in usage of on-road trucks used to deliver feed, and reduction in usage of any remaining off-road equipment used in the feeding process. Further emission reductions and cost-savings to Valley dairies and CAFO's will be achieved through increased efficiencies of the new systems that result in an overall reduction in feed mixing equipment usage. Due to the complexity of this program, it is strongly advised that interested applicants speak with program staff to ensure proper submittal of an application.

SDG&E Residential Zero Net Energy Transformation (RZNET) Program No Due Date Given Varies

Do you live in an apartment or manufactured home? Do you own or operate a multifamily or manufactured housing community? If so, we may have ways to help reduce  your energy costs by participating in the new innovative Residential Zero Net Energy Transformation (RZNET) program. 

The Residential Zero Net Energy Transformation (RZNET) program will  assist SDG&E multifamily and manufactured housing customers with navigating their path to zero net energy. 

What is Zero Net Energy(ZNE)?  ZNE is the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is equal to or less than the amount of renewable energy (energy created by sources that are naturally replenished, such as wind, rain, or solar) created on-site.

RZNET allows you to connect with an Energy Advisor that will help you make informed decisions about how to achieve your energy efficiency goals. 

RZNET program participants on the path to zero net energy, begin with the installation of no-cost measures and a complimentary ASHRAE Level 1 audit. Information on advanced energy efficiency, solar PV installations, and battery storage opportunities for multifamily and manufactured housing properties is also available.

Pathogenic Mechanisms influencing Blood Brain Barrier function in HIV and Substance Use Disorders (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) Varies

The blood brain barrier (BBB) is a target of both the HIV virus and substances of abuse. It is a site of entry for HIV infected monocytes and macrophages that can traverse the BBB either paracellularly or transcellularly. HIV viral proteins can also attack astrocytes and tight junctions of BBB directly and compromise its integrity, resulting in the crossing of the virus, as well as abused substances, into the brain. Meanwhile, many substances of abuse cause BBB dysfunction. Because BBB integrity regulates both substances and virus levels in the brain, it is critical to establish the mechanisms by which HIV infection, in combination with substances of abuse, affect BBB function and integrity and their consequences. The purpose of this initiative is to support innovative research that elucidates the roles of HIV and addictive substances in the pathology of BBB. This FOA encourages studies to expand the current understanding of the basic molecular mechanisms underlying virus mobilization across BBB, and pathology of BBB in HIV infection and substance use disorders (SUD). In addition, studies are encouraged to develop and test novel BBB models to assess the delivery of pharmacological and immunotherapies to treat HIV infection and SUD, and to suppress HIV replication in CNS.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites applications for new ECHO Cohort Study Sites to extend and expand the capacity of the ECHO Cohort to further investigate the roles of a broad range of early exposures from society to biology, including the preconception period, on ECHOs five key child health outcome areaspre-, peri- and postnatal, upper and lower airways, obesity, neurodevelopment, and positive healthamong diverse populations. The objectives of this FOA are to solicit applications to 1) lead collaborative ECHO Cohort science, 2) recruit new pregnant participants from diverse populations, their resulting offspring, and, if available, the conceiving partner, 3) develop and implement the ECHO Cohort Preconception Pilot Study, and 4) implement the ECHO Cohort Data and Biospecimen Collection Protocol using the ECHO Cohort consortiums central data capture system, e.g., REDCap Central. HEAL Initiative: Prevention and Management of Chronic Pain in Rural Populations (UG3/UH3, Clinical Trials Required) Varies

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages UG3/UH3 phased cooperative research applications to accelerate implementation of effective non-opioid interventions for chronic pain management in rural and remote populations. Projects include pragmatic, implementation, or hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials to improve pain management and reduce the use of inappropriate opioid medications. Awards made under this FOA will initially support a milestone-driven, planning phase (UG3) of 1 to 2 years, with possible transition to an implementation phase (UH3) of up to 4 years duration (5 years total for the two phases). UG3 projects that have met the scientific milestone and feasibility requirements may transition to the UH3 phase. The UG3/UH3 application must be submitted as a single application, following the instructions described in this FOA.
